Words – Erin Shea

Brooklyn-based Christine Hoberg’s “All That Hate” is a clash between a beautiful sound and an atrocious subject. Throw in the addition of Duluth, MN-based DJ Danecdote’s beats creates a sinister layer similar to the “hate” that Hoberg sings of without stepping on her notes.

While her vocals are absolutely lovely, she sings of something that is one of the ugliest, and most relatable, emotions in this world: hate.

By contrasting these elements – her voice, the dark beats, and the lyrics – the remix is alluringly profound as it creates a reason for introspection on the listener’s part, but it takes longer to think about than the song’s three-minute length. In the lyrics, Hoberg explains that hate will never leave us alone, and hate is what makes us truly alone.
