Describe your work/process

I’m still trying to figure out my process in a professional way. Right now I just take photos. I try not to think about it to much. My favorite things to shoot are concerts and parties, so I’ve been trying to do more of that lately.

What have you been up to recently? (trips, projects, work?)

Lately I’ve been working my ass off on school applications. They literally almost killed me. Now that those are finished I’ve been out partying and taking photos. I’m working on a couple of zines at the moment, one of which is going to drop within the next couple of weeks. I’ve also been working on getting an event for youth artists in my city started, as well as preparing for a TedX talk that I’m presenting at the end of February.

Favorite Camera?  (weapon of choice)

I shoot mostly with my Pentax P3 and a Minolta Hi-Matic AF. My birthday is coming up, and I’m hoping to buy a Contax T2 as a gift to myself, so I’m pretty stoked on using that.

Advice to other creative’s/aspiring artists

I feel super weird giving advice to other people, mostly because I’m only seventeen, and haven’t really experienced the actual world of aspiring artists/creatives. But if there’s any kids younger then me reading this, my advice is to tell everybody else to fuck off and just do what you love, and do it as frequently as you can.

What are you currently listening to/reading/ watching?

Currently reading Joyce’s Dubliners, currently listening to Le1f’s Fly Zone mix-tape and pretty much anything DJ Screw put out, currently watching Lastnightsparty’s short videos.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Hopefully in 5 years I’ll hopefully be able to eat/pay rent with money from my photography. Ideally I’m friends with a bunch of DJ’s/Rappers, and taking photos at their shows.

Who is or where does your inspiration come from? Any emerging artists to watch out for?

The majority of my inspiration comes from the Nighted/A Love Token/Blood of the Young crowd. Their zines/the photographers involved with them are what get me excited about photography. Also I’m lucky enough to have a bunch of super talented friends who constantly push me to be better.
