VNDL: Describe your work/process? EC: A lot of my work comes from roaming, both mentally and physically. My first photo job and experience was doing a ryan Mcginley road trip and that influenced me to want to constantly be moving and seeing new things in order to stay inspired. Photography provides me an excuse and a buffer to be disengaged while still consuming as much as possible. What have you been up to recently? (trips, projects, work?) I’m laying out a book currently of my personal work and also making a zine from some of my uncles letters and notes he’s written over the years. I travel a lot for work, this month London and Rome. Happy to get away from NYC cold. Favorite Camera? (weapon of choice) Contax t3, t2 and g2. All tied. Favorite Quote “what matters most is how well you walk through the fire” – Bukowksi Advice to other creative’s/aspiring artists I’m in no place to give advice What are you currently listening to/reading/ watching? King krule and Burial. Reading “the drop edge of yonder”- Wurlitzer. Watching as many NBA games as I can. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Ideally playing professional basketball for the Los Angeles lakers but if that doesn’t work out.. Taking pictures and directing films. Probably living in a warmer climate. Who is or where does your inspiration come from? Any emerging artists to watch out for? Inspiration comes from all over the place, i try to read a book a week and watch as many films as possible so I am kinda constantly going through different phases and inspirations. My friend Rafael Rios, he and I are making a book/zine together now.
