VNDL: Describe your work/process I ride around on a bicycle in asteroid field traffic. Its like Calcutta on the roads out here. Adventure then race to see Franklin my awesome Korean photolab wizard. Most days Im outside. With lots of sunblock cos Im Scottish. What have you been up to recently? (trips, projects, work?) I recently went up to Santa Cruz and San Francisco with some of the Jackass crew to stay with old skateboarding legend Jason Jessee. That was a good time. We threw hatchets every morning and fed his turkey and rooster collection. It was the first time in my life i rode a horse and shot a gun and almost got crushed by a sea lion. Last month I climbed Half Dome in Yosemite with the most epic crew of Mexicans. It was gnarly up there. 9,000 feet up on wires in a straw hat. It was scary. The Mexicans packed huge zip lock bags filled with salted spicy dried crickets. Its amazing how thirsty one can get after eating just one cricket. Favorite Camera? (weapon of choice) Contax G2. Although I break so many. I need to find a different camera. One thats more battle proof. Favorite Quote “Yer coats on a shakey peg son” – My Dad would say that to me in Scotland. Means Im kinda blowing it and need to buck up my ideas. Advice to other creative’s/aspiring artists? I came to America 20 years ago with nothing. I still have nothing. Actually wait no. Thats not true. I just aquired the dirt bike from the Rambo First Blood movie. It rules not that its running. Coolest thing I own now. Gosh advicewise Im not sure- Shoot Everything!! Keep Moving!! What are you currently listening to/reading/ watching? I read a lot of books. All random. From Keith Moon to Comanche Indians and Machu Picchu. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? I honestly have no idea. Part of me wants to leave America. I feel Im ready for a new land. Who is or where does your inspiration come from? Any emerging artists to watch out for? My inspiration comes from my friend Harry. He drove trucks through the jungle in the Vietnam war in 69. I ride motorcycles with him and we cruise around on his wooden sail boat. Hes a total Pirate and the only free man I know and still lives in the 70s. Hes my friend and without a doubt Im inspired by his adventures and his tales.
