VNDL: Describe your work/process: CR: My commercial imagery is simple and oftentimes monochromatic. It’s always captured in digital format and usually takes place in studio. Shooting with film however is reserved for personal projects only. It’s a much freer organic process, nothing is planned out ahead of time. Someone somewhere once coined the process, “Intentional imperfection”. What have you been up to recently? (trips, projects, work?) After living in Moscow, Russia for a year I returned to the the U.S. and am happy to be back. Since returning in September I’ve been shooting for a French company south of Houston and a Michelin star restaurant on 5th Ave near the park. Manhattan does it differently than anywhere in the world I’ve shot and have been challenged and inspired in ways I never thought I would. Favorite Quote “For myself I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream…” -Vincent Van Gogh Advice to other creative’s/aspiring artists Be true to yourself, always. What are you currently listening to/reading/watching? Bon Iver Where do you see yourself in 5 years? A significant percentage closer to decomposing, and perhaps living out some of the best years of my life along the way. Who is or where does your inspiration come from? Any emerging artists to watch out for? Inspiration for me is a lot like love, you can’t choose when you’ll fall in love or who you’ll fall in love with… it just, happens. And there hasn’t been an overwhelming feeling of inspiration that’s influencing my work at the moment, but when it comes I know better than to pass it up.
