VNDL: Describe your work/process: CH: It varies depending upon the aesthetic of the project that I’m after to be honest. As much as I hate the word urban, I guess a lot of my work falls under that umbrella like word. The most significant body of work that I have finished is a book called Dreamers and it’s a documentation of my hometown’s (Bristol) Hip-Hop scene, this is probably the best representation of how I like to shoot. What have you been up to recently? (trips, projects, work?) I got to go to Paris and Brussels assisting the other week, that was pretty good fun. The project I’m currently shooting involves hanging out on a bridge taking portraits, pretty simple idea but it’s shaping up nicely. As far as work goes, I’ve been trying to juggling a million and one things at once, seems to be working at the moment which is good. Touch wood. Favorite Quote: “It’s 0-0, we go again!” Advice to other creative’s/aspiring artists: Enjoy your artistic/creative endeavors and make sure your doing them for the right reasons. What are you currently listening to/reading/ watching? I listen to a lot of UK Hip-Hop, which not everyone will be familiar with, but also a handful of American rappers including Action Bronson and Joey Badda$$ which I’m enjoying at the moment. Just finished reading Don McCullin’s autobiography, which was a great read – he’s an amazing person. As most will know Breaking Bad finished a few weeks back, I’m still trying to fill this hole. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Earning a living out of photography alone and continuing to pursue interesting projects with fascinating people. Who is or where does your inspiration come from? Any emerging artists to watch out for? I’m going to throw a few names at you, James Arthur Allen, Tom Jamieson, Marco Kesseler, Theo Cottle aka Fantastic Ted and Jon Ross-Elliot, all of which are going to be producing some great work in the foreseeable future and continue to be an amazing support network.
