Joe St. Pierre vndl February 27, 2013 Interview, Photography 3 Comments VNDL: Describe your work/process I try to accomplish a very natural, candid feel in my work. Warmth, adventure, and peace of mind all play a huge roll. My main goal is to inspire my viewers to experience adventure and feel the emotions portrayed in my photographs. What have you been up to recently? (trips, projects, work?) Recently, I have been having a huge case of cabin fever. This winter seems relentless and I catch myself daydreaming about spring. On the upside though, a road trip from here to Canada with my girlfriend is in the making as well as a portrait series / book I have been thinking about for some time now. Favorite Quote “In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” -Abraham Lincoln Advice to other creative’s/aspiring artists Be who you are in your work, not who you wish you were. What are you currently listening to/reading/ watching? Currently I am listening to Bryan John Appleby, Frontier Ruckus, and Alt-J, as well as watching the new season of Portlandia. I need a good book to read so if anyone has suggestions I’m all ears! Where do you see yourself in 5 years? In 5 years I hope to be working on projects with companies that believe in a similar lifestyle to mine while living somewhere up north with the girl I love and a big dog. Who is or where does your inspiration come from? Any emerging artists to watch out for? My inspiration comes from pushing myself to go out and experience places and things I have yet to with great people. Being outdoors and getting stoked on natural beauty is also a giant part of my inspiration. As for emerging artists, Peter Currie is one to look out for. His new project dealing with exploring the idea of natural and artificial light combined together in an urban environment is one that I highly recommend everyone checks out. Great guy and great photographer. Joe St. Pierre is a photographer based out of Boston, MA. My blog has a lot of unique content I’ve either authored myself or outsourced but it looks like a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my agreement. Do you know any ways to help protect against content from being ripped off? I’d truly appreciate it.
