VNDL: Describe your work/process.

R+R: We are Pamela + Matthew, also known as Reed + Rader.   We do lots of things, we make gifs, we make films, we make interactive projects.   We always try to have fun in our work.

What have you been up to recently (trips, projects, work)?

We just had 2 solo shows to end 2012.  The show was called “Cretaceous Returns” and it was a prehistoric journey with some dinosaur friends.  We showed in London and New York.  The show consisted of videos, gifs and interactive elements where you yourself could become a dinosaur.

Besides that we’re currently working on multiple advertisement and editorial assignments at the moment, always sticking with future forward fun ideas.

Lastly, we’re getting ready for the 2013 garden season and hoping the Brooklyn Nets season extends into the playoffs.

Loving our 4 cats.

Any advice to other creatives/aspiring artists?

BE YOU.  Love what you do.  The only opinion that really matters is your own.  If you love it and can show that you’re having a good time and enjoy what you do, others will join your club.

What are you currently listening to/reading/watching?

Listening to: Machinedrum, Bonobo, Rustie.

Just finished reading: Snowcrash.

Currently Watching: streamed basketball games because we don’t have cable.

Wish was still on the air so we could currently be watching: Battlestar Galactica, X-Files.

Anxiously awaiting for: Mad Men, Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In our 30’s.  We know we’ll be doing our art, but technically – who knows.  Technology moves so fast and being artists that use so many mediums it’s always exciting to see what’s new.  Hopefully in 5 years we’ll have AR contact lenses embedded in our eyes so we can virtually project what you can see.

Who is or where does your inspiration come from? Any emerging artists to watch out for?

We love the internet.  Need to be motivated or inspired? Go on the internet.  It’s a community we love dearly.

Originally from Ohio and Pennsylvania, Reed + Rader are currently based out of Brooklyn, NY.
