Interview – May Lin Le Goff vndl January 26, 2013 Art, Interview, Photography VNDL: Describe your work/process. MLLG: I shoot, I retouch, I print, I cut, I paste, I do more cutting, and pasting, throw in some glitter and glamour, and then reshoot the whole thing. Repeat. What have you been up to recently (trips, projects, work)? I’ve been working on an entire backlog of retouching. A couple months ago I went on a shooting spree and now I actually have to do something with the images. It’s really where the real fun begins for me. Also, making name cards for the first time in my life. This makes me an adult now, right? Favorite Quote? “I heard that good people sleep better than bad people, but then I realized, that bad people have way more fun in the waking hours.” – a variation on some Woody Allen quote. Advice to other creatives/aspiring artists? Just follow your gut. Also, the best advice is the kind you reject completely at first. Then 6 months down the road you look back and think, “Why the hell didn’t I do that?” What are you currently listening to/reading/watching? Trying to get through the psychosis that is David Foster Wallace’s Infinite Jest. I’m determined finish this book with my mind in one piece. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Gucci, Gucci, Louis, Louis, Fendi, Fendi, Prada. Who is or where does your inspiration come from? Any emerging artists to watch out for? I’m obsessed with Colorism, Funism, Unusualism, and a whole bunch of other isms. But just not Seriousism, that’s of the worst kind. I’m currently loving Nasrah Omar, Tara Johnson, Noffar Gat, Rachel Hines, Allyson Lamb, Adriana Sanchez, Lenora Jayne, Andres El Burgos, Wenjun Liang, Xi Sinsong, Chelsea Brodsky, Samantha Rubin, Kamil Tyebally, the list goes on and on and on. May Lin Le Goff is a photographer and artist based out of Brooklyn, NY.
